Greg Slyngstad

greg Greg Slyngstad is a Director of Kayak.com. In this role he is responsible for helping to direct the strategic plan and vision for the company. Greg is also an instrumental advisor on the Kayak product plans.

During a 14-year stint at Microsoft starting in 1983, Greg held various positions including Group Program Manager on Microsoft Word for seven years, Director of Far East Product Strategy based in Tokyo, and General Manager of Microsoft's Travel Group where he built and managed the team that created Microsoft Expedia.

In 1997, after working with Microsoft to launch Expedia, Greg co-founded a travel-related startup called VacationSpot.com, which quickly became the leading reservation network for vacation rentals. In late 1999 Expedia had spun out of Microsoft to become a separate public company. In March of 2000, Expedia acquired VacationSpot.com and Greg was once again within Expedia, this time as Senior Vice President, responsible for running the hotel and vacation package businesses.

In March of 2002, he left Expedia again to pursue other interests including an eight-month, 5,000-mile sailing journey with his wife and two children starting from Seattle through the Panama Canal and the Caribbean.
